Bridge Deck: CAPELLA C was built as Capella at BOELE’s SHEEPSWERFEN EN shipyard in Holland and launched in 1968 as “Her Majesty Ship Bloomendhal” A905, an auxiliary hydrographic vessel of the Royal Dutch Navy. Later on, she became a Pilot Boat for the Rotterdam Harbors’ administration. It is not surprising M/Y CAPELLA C boasts a large bridge with unobstructed all-around visibility. The bridge has a traditional, practical, and user-friendly layout. The ship’s office and chart table are close to the helm, while the side wing controls are ideal for easy maneuvering. The navigation equipment has been upgraded and has proved more than adequate during her long voyages. Immediately aft of the bridge is a day head and a comfortable en-suite Captain’s cabin. First Deck: A dedicated Owners’ apartment is one of the great features of this vessel allowing for even greater privacy for her Owners and guests. Just beneath the bridge is the Master stateroom. Full beam with plenty of natural light and 180-degree views this is a very comfortable cabin. The Master stateroom also has a large en suite bathroom with a shower bathtub and a two walk in closets. On the port side a private pantry completed with a fridge, freezer, stowe and microwave make the Owners’ apartment self-sufficient. The Owners’ office is comfortable as too, is the private salon complete with a dining area, TV area and video conferencing facilities. The aft part of this deck houses an operational “Touch and Go” helipad
Main Deck: The forward part of the Main deck is an area uniquely dedicated to children. A large playroom and TV/ Dining room are at the center with 5 five charming children’s cabins all with ensuite bathrooms/shower and a school room adjacent. The pantry in this area makes it too self-sufficient much like the Owners’ apartment. Immediately aft of the children’s area is the ship’s main galley. A professional working galley with all the necessary equipment, good natural light and ventilation and easy access to the crew area, main dining room and main salon to the aft. The main deck is completed by the main dining area for 12 and a salon with a large bar to the aft. This area has a warm and classic ambience with dark wood paneling. Lower Deck: There are two comfortable en-suite guest staterooms to the aft of the lower deck both with double beds. Immediately aft of these is a large sauna and a gym. Forward of this area with a separate entrance are 3 more en-suite guest staterooms 2 with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds. The crew area is to be found in the forward part of the lower deck. Able to accommodate up to 13 crew in two single en-suite, one single and five double with 2 cabins sharing one bathroom/shower. The crew mess and galley are comfortable with easy access to all parts of the ship. A dedicated laundry room and various stores for food and spares are also to be found in the crew area either on the lower deck or the engine deck. Remarks This is a proven world cruiser and like many yachts built for extended cruising she has various spaces for her Owners and guests. Particularly during long voyages to remote areas, the ability to opt for privacy or not amongst those on board is very important. In our opinion CAPELLA C is ideal for world cruising as she is or could prove to be a great platform for a major refit (like many of her sister ships) or for use as a support vessel. In any case her sea worthiness, proven world cruising abilities and charm cannot be denied. She cruised predominantly in the Mediterranean and Caribbean from 1986 to 2000/2001 and then did extensive cruising until 2006 culminating in 2 circumnavigations of the globe. In 2006 she went into the yard in Fort Lauderdale where she underwent an extensive refit for about 1 ½ years. During this refit period: • Her main engines were replaced • Her bow thruster was moved forward, and a new bow thruster engine was installed • Her hull was repainted • A new mast. |
